‘Living in a fishing port, I have come to appreciate the forms of objects used in the fishing industry. My collection – acquired on regular beach-walks – includes a multitude of floats, some of which are incorporated into this work. The rusty, weathered surfaces allude to time at sea and subjection to the elements. The totemic structures themselves invite a more formal reading in the context of contemporary art.’ Carmel Wallace 2011
